Sustainable agriculture is at the core of Monsanto. Monsanto scientists are conducting the research and development (R&D) to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology. The Breeding IT team within Global Breeding Organization works directly with these scientists to develop and automate new capabilities that enable R&D decisions to be made more quickly and efficiently.
Monsanto is seeking an exceptionally talented individual to lead a team of software engineers and to contribute across the Breeding IT team. The successful candidate will provide strategic technical, project, and people leadership in a fast-paced R&D environment to accelerate development of breeding IT apps across our logistic operations. The individual must have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, a proven track record of solving challenging and complex problems, as well as a strong commitment to achieving results.
- Lead a team of developers and provide technical direction on software development including code and architecture design reviews, debugging, and mentoring team members to increase overall technical knowledge and team capacity
- Drive the development and implementation of IT apps to enable a larger, smarter and more connected logistic operations
- Supervise execution of software development, testing, and software documentation
- Understand breeding’s IT needs and work directly with scientists and logistic teams to align priorities with workflow automation
- As this is a people management position, it also requires regular employee 1x1s, coaching, mentoring, and career development
