International Tax Manager

The Global Finance Organization at Monsanto has an excellent opportunity available for a Manager-International Tax to join our team. This position will lead the group responsible for Monsanto’s US international tax compliance, business support, review and analysis of foreign tax provision for quarterly /annual financial statements and management of special tax projects.  The individual in this position will serve as a key member of a large international tax team while experiencing a wide variety of compliance and tax planning.  Tax professionals at Monsanto develop a great deal of knowledge about the business, have opportunities for increasing responsibilities within the tax function as well as opportunities to face complex issues and challenges.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with review and analysis of subpart F and dividend income, as well as foreign tax credit calculations
  • Assist with international tax compliance and analysis, including preparation and review of earnings and profits calculations as well as Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865
  • Provide quarterly support for ASC 740 analysis and documentation with respect to Monsanto’s ex-US subsidiaries
  • Assist with design and implementation of international tax planning projects
  • Interact with team members outside of tax and with external advisors

Required skills/experience:

  • 5+ years of tax experience (including 3+ international tax) in a public accounting or corporate tax environment; public accounting experience a plus
  • Bachelor degree in accounting; advanced degree and certification preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. international tax technical rules, including subpart F, foreign tax credits and foreign source income calculations
  • Experience completing Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865 in a reviewer capacity
  • Knowledge and experience in ASC 740 and tax provision concepts
  • Ability to identify international tax issues and propose resolutions
  • Team player with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills; self-motivated individual with ability to manage multiple tasks independently
  • Proficiency or aptitude for very strong project management skills
  • Challenges self and others to continuously seek process improvements while producing a high quality work product
  • Familiarity with Thompson’s OneSource tax products, including OIT and OTP, preferred
  • SAP and/or Hyperion experience a plus
