Business Process Analyst

The Business Process & Analytics team with Technology Pipeline Solutions (TPS) looks to find creative and innovative solutions to enable Resesarch & Development (R&D) success within our research pipeline while identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities to maintain and grow our position as the market leader. The ability to examine and optimize our current methods coupled with an eye on the future lends itself to a unique opportunity within our organization.

Monsanto has an opportunity available for a Business Process Analyst to join our Business Process and Analytics Team within the R&D IT Organization. The R&D IT organization works directly with Monsanto scientists to develop software platforms that enable cutting-edge research and development to revolutionize plant breeding and biotechnology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design and optimization of process flows and development of analytical solutions implemented in software systems used by our R&D organizations

  • Model and implement complex scientific R&D workflows in a Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) of tools

  • Model processes, data, and activities to perform gap analysis of current workflows

  • Develop business strategies in conjunction with internal IT partners

  • Partner with the R&D organizations to understand the business drivers to ensure solutions deliver expected value.

  • Interact with various levels within Information Technology, including senior management to effectively communicate vision & direction

Required skills/experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in math, science, engineering, computer science, or business field with at least 2 years of experience or a Masters Degree with no experience

  • Familiarity with workflow modeling and business process model and notation (BPMN)

  • Experience working in software development environment

  • Able to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders to provide holistic solutions

  • Experience analyzing and presenting complex data and proven problem solving abilities

  • Ability to strategically optimize business processes using process improvement & engineering methodologies

Desired skills/experience:

  • PhD in math, science, engineering, computer science, or business field

  • 3+ years experience as a process analyst or business analyst contributing to software development

  • Experience in developing business processes using the IBM BPM (Lombardi) middleware

  • Experience in developing and solving network flow problems for planning, scheduling, and space utilization

  • Experience in managing projects

  • Experience with LEAN methodology

  • Ability to rapidly learn new problem domains and become conversant in the domain with business users

  • Creativity in defining challenging exploratory projects
