QMS and Quality Coordinator (12 month contract)

Key Business Accountabilities.

The QMS and Quality coordinator manages all canola breeding procedures and associated documents, ensures adherence to internal and external QMS and stewardship standards, tracks non-conformances, and provides appropriate training. This role also provides direction and oversight to our internal oil quality labs including sample coordination, lab certification, process improvement, and supervision of full time and contract staff. This requires regular interaction with the canola breeding leadership team, the stewardship team, the regulatory team, manufacturing, and other Monsanto breeding groups. The incumbent provides guidance to all canola breeding employees in Canada and Chile.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Direct the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of a quality management system for canola breeding operations in Canada and Chile.

  • Ensure adherence to Monsanto stewardship best practices by aligning existing QMS with BIO Excellence through Stewardship efforts, including coordination and participation in external audits.

  • Manage internal audit program, including maintenance of audit records, creating annual internal audit schedule, and coordinate training of new auditors.

  • Provide support for process improvement initiatives and act as the central resource for coordinating and documenting such projects and their progress.

  • Maintain QMS document library, including drafting and revising SOP's, managing online document library tool.

  • Chair management review meetings and ensure follow-up on action items.

  • Develop and maintain a QMS training and competency database, including training employees on corporate policies and the development of training material and tools.

  • Lead a team of site dedicated QMS personnel and provide guidance with QMS development at the site level.

  • Measure the performance of the QMS through the use of surveys, analysis of non-conformances (CAR, PAR) and continuous improvements, and other key performance indicators.

  • Work closely with the canola breeding leadership team and the global breeding quality management team to identify process gaps and implement best practices.

  • Uphold Monsanto Company and external quality standards and ensure processes are designed to meet such standards.

  • Support the safety program and align to the QMS wherever possible.

  • Ensure oil quality lab is functioning in a highly efficient manner.

  • Coordinate and document process improvements for the quality lab.

  • Ensure equipment calibrations and certifications are maintained and regularly reviewed.

  • Ensure adherence to Monsanto and external safety and ESH processes.

  • Provide direct supervision to oil quality lab staff
Core Business/Functional Skills and Education.

  • Experience with and a thorough understanding of quality management systems.

  • Experience with GC and NIR methods of oil analysis, chlorophyll analysis, and system calibration.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the capability to present information clearly to others.

  • A Bachelor's degree in agriculture or related field is required.

  • Results oriented leadership capability.

  • Able to build relationships across company functions and regions.

  • Auditing experience is desired.

  • Ability to travel is required.
