As a key member of the Seed and Trait Team, the Territory Manager is responsible for selling branded seed and trait technologies to Western Canadian retail and farm customers. The successful candidate will:
· Be responsible for achieving territory DEKALB Seed targets as determined by the Area Sales Manager
· Provide input on seed and trait distribution decisions and seed product /volume allocation to DEKALB Area Sales Manager
· Manage DEKALB retail and key grower business relationships within defined territory
· Develop, communicate, and implement annual business plans with retail accounts and key growers (including sales targets and tactics, operational needs, agronomic training, support, and stewardship plans)
· Effectively communicate the benefits of Monsanto and all our products with retail/distributor/growers
· Work with DEKALB agronomists to provide value to our retail and grower customers and to develop territory business plans
· Promote weed management and technology stewardship
· Create seed and trait demand through local tactics and activities, including retail merchandising and display
· Contribute to operational excellence in the execution of programs, tactics and other key administrative functions
· Meet organizational safety requirements
· Manage Summer Assistants
· Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business or Marketing, or equivalent combination of skills and experience
· Proven sales and relationship building skills with both retail and key grower customers
· Strong negotiation skills and the ability to sell value
· Ability to work independently
· Fundamental knowledge of seed agronomics
· Understanding of business principles and business planning
· Creative and able to adapt to change
· Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
· Demonstrated leadership and team skills
